Do I have to uninstall C14 before installing C15?
No. All versions exist independently.
Hi and welcome to the forum and merry Christmas!
If you leave C14 on the system while updating to C15 all settings will be automatically migrated - usually a bonus. Moreover, C14 doesn’t take up much disk space and you don’t have to download all of the libraries again because they will be shared.
All of them can coexist independently, I just barely deleted C14 earlier this week. I think I finally trashed C12 when 14 came out haha. 12 and 13 were hanging out for awhile on here.
Keep in mind however, when you upgrade to a new version, it will migrate all of your preferences/templates/etc over from the previous one. Basically don’t uninstall the old version until after you’ve installed and tested the new one otherwise you may be starting completely from scratch!
I am pretty sure though that the preferences folder doesn’t get deleted with an uninstall of Cubase. But it is good advice to keep the old version until everything is running smoothly with the new version.
That’s a good point, at least on a Mac, you have to delete everything manually. As long as they’re not a ‘scorched earth’ uninstaller (I clear out all the caches and everything), that part should be fine hehe.
