Do you create hitpoint after bouncing audio or to comped performace?

I have just gotten into drum editing and was wondering how most of you create your hitpoints? I comped together a great performance and thought that if I wanted to add hitpoints (for quantization) I would first have to bounce the comped audio to make a new event. But if I do that my ability with editing crossfades more intuitively is lost because there is no more overlapping audio at the edit points between the comped takes. So now I am thinking of creating hitpoints from the comped takes…basically I would comp the performance and then highlight those events (for example a kick drum track with the comped takes) and create my hitpoints off of that.

Any reason why not to do this??

Thanks for any tips!!
