Hi. I’m running cubase 7.5 on a tired old mid-2011 iMac with OS High Sierra.
I’m realising that, for all sorts of reasons, I need to upgrade my Hardware and am looking at one of the new 2023 M3 iMacs. Problem is, I love my current version of cubase (7.5) and know the parts I want to use inside out. So, does anyone know if cubase 7.5 will run on the latest macs and, if not, is it possible to seamlessly import files created with cubase 7.5 into cubase pro 12 or 13? Thanks.
Hi and welcome to the forum,
Cubase 7.5 was not compatible with the Apple M processors. So the only chance would be to run it in the Rosetta mode. But even then, so old Cubase is not compatible with the currentacOS.
So I would strongly recommend to update your Cubase.
Yes, you can open your projects. In case all your plug-ins are already Apple Silicon compatible, you can run it. If not, you will need to use the Rosetta mode, because of the plug-ins.
Partially, no so much a mac problem, but which OS (the main thing that breaks so much in any update eg, Sonoma is a dog). Otherwise, on an newer Apple Silicon mac, Cubase 7.1 will need to run under Rosetta emulation & ditto the plugins, VIs. Could be substantial implications there. Capitalism.
Best I can suggest is find a friend or an Apple store where they’ll let you installl 7.5.
Importing projects into C12 or 13 shouldn’t be a problem, but you know, in any kind of substantial upgrades like thos,we need t be prepared for say a week of troubleshooting & waste of life. Import Tracks From Other Projects

Thanks for the advice. I hadn’t even considered OS! Looks like it’s going to be a costly venture, both in terms of time and money. Does cubase 12/13 have all the score features - I work a lot in the score window and need to be able to print quality parts (people always recommend Sibelius for this but I really don’t like it).
I bought a Lexicon Alpha and Omega around 2005 which came with Cubase LE and a serial number. Although I don’t have an external disc drive to install Cubase. I was wondering if there was anyway I could download the software? windows 10 pro OS
Hi,
Which Cubase version do you have the license for, please?
