Hi,
i’m a beginner in home recording, as you can see to my silly question: i would like to record from a usb mixer (Soundcraft or Behringer 18ch) as i did in the past. I would like to listen in my headphones, so the situation is:
→ RECORD (input) from external usb mixer (of course i installed drivers)
→ LISTEN (in live and for post-production) with headphones from Realtek audio from my pc or, at least, my focusrite USB card.
I tried 5 minutes to set in cubase but it seems i have to choose ONE sound card, not two in the same time! how do you do? is it possible?
Thank you so much!
You can install the driver ASIO4All which lets you aggregate multiple audio devices.
really? what’s that? made by cubase or is it a workaround? thanks!
It is not made by Steinberg. It’s a 3rd party ASIO driver for audio interfaces that does not come with a proprietary one. It also allows you group multiple interfaces under the same ASIO driver.
If you were on a Mac, aggregating audio devices is a feature that’s built into the OS.
Thank you! i ll try as soon as possible! i imagine i can build a kind a virtual soundcard choosing from the phisical sound cards really connected to my pc, am i right?
Yea but it probably won’t be as stable as a single interface using its own asio driver and you may have digital sync problems. It’s always best to use one interface. Try it out though and if it works for you (as it does others) then great.
