Does Dorico 3 support Midi Guitar Input?

Hi @Charlie_R,
No doubt that internal MIDI guitar support will be a great improvement for Dorico, or at least a way to use Jam Origin’s - MIDI Guitar 2 and MIDI Bass through Audio Input Channel. Btw, I’m wondering what’s going on with the Jam Origin?! The MIDI Guitar 2 wasn’t updated for a very long time… They had to release a MIDI Violin software, but no any information about it…
Personally I would like to use my electric guitar in Real-Time, or Step Input when writing for guitar, or even for other stringed instruments, as well. The guitar is far more closer to the Violin or Viola, than the piano is. Some of the guitar strings can even be tuned as those instruments which could give a far better perspective about the finger positions when playing multiple stops.

Well, I would argue that the codding of such feature from scratch isn’t an easy task, especially inside a complex application like Dorico.
The easiest way would be if Steinberg collaborate, or just buy the technology from Jam Origin and integrate it. Even then it will take quite some time to be properly implemented in Dorico as native function.

Currently you can use an external MIDI device that can be attached to the guitar and plugged into your computer. Dorico will recognize it.

Best wishes,
Thurisaz
