Does the new Folder-Group retain already routed connections or break them?

ie..

-Folder
–Audio1
–Audio2
–Audio3
—Group (Audio 1,2,3)
–Audio 4

If Audio 1,2,3 are routed to group, does changing the Folder to a Folder-Group, steal those connections resulting in the group having nothing routed to it?

or,

-Folder X
—Folder Group A
–Audio1
–Audio2
–Audio3
—Folder Group B
–Audio 4

Does changing regular Folder X to a Folder-Group steal the audio track connections, or does it only take routing of Folder Group A and B?

And then lastly

–Audio1
–Audio2
–Audio3
—Group A (Audio 1,2,3)
-Folder-Group Z
–Audio 4

If I multi-select Audio1,2,3 and Group A, and drag them into Folder-Group Z - does it only auto route the Group, or does it auto-route everything? or likewise, dragging folder-groups into folder-groups?

Had similar questions about this. In the video the presenter says everything is automatically routed to the main mix…. but what is the main mix? And generally you want it hitting another group of your choice downstream before the mixbus.

I imagine any track in the folder with previous routing is cleared and the group routing takes precedence.

And what happens then when the track is moved out of that group? Is routing reset or does it take on the routing it had before it was put into that group (I would prefer that)

Also, if Undo/Redo, restores previous routings.

In my templates, I usually have some “final-final” sub-groups I don’t touch unless absolutely necessary which are usually either in their own folder or outside folder structures all together.

So I might need to rethink how I do that, maybe. Definitely will have to change things up a bit if I use this feature.

I really wish they had made Summing Mode not cancel out channels direct outs for Export.

The main mix is the Output Bus that is marked with this symbol:

I’d have to watch it again, but from what I recall the tracks moved into the folder-group get routed to that folder-group, and tracks moved out of it get routed to the main (“default”) output bus.

I too would prefer that, or hopefully “undo” would move tracks back out as well as restore prior routing.

Curious to see what happens to other direct outputs. I’d hope they remain regardless.

I think its pretty useless to go to the output buss. Hope the routing is selectable or a default can be set

Gotta ask…I use folders for grouping instruments and conserving space but I use busses for groups and fx….will I still be able to use a folder as simply a folder?

yes. its toggle on the track header

Thanks!!
