A need cue-sized notes with parentheses, but if the note has an accidental the left one pops to the right of the accidental. It tried instead to use a Custom Size on the notehead but when it reaches 96% the same thing happens. The first picture shows the reduction at 97% and second shows it at 96%.
Seems like a bug, and it’s making it impossible for me to do what I need to do here.
I’m not sure I undestand exactly what you want. But I think you could try to use the “Accidental x offset” property (in combination with the “scale” property).
Thanks. Yes, it looks like it must be a bug in that it requires so much adjustment just to get it the way someone would obviously want it to be.

This is not a bug (I think). It just requires a different option than the factory default (which you can save as your default). But of course the change will influence all sharps. So possibly there is space for improvement here:
set Engraving Options>Accidentals>Gaps>Gap to right of rightmost accidental, if a sharp: 1/8 spaces (instead of the factory default 1/4):
