Anyway, I appreciate the compliment. I get the impression that this little movement is the most popular thing I’ve written in fact. There is a strange irony that just about the only person who doesn’t seem to like it (other than those who have no time for my music in general, obviously) is the proprietor of Toccata Records who promised to include a contribution of mine in a forthcoming compilation of laments for strings (the Yodit project). He prefers an earlier work from my String Serenade which is not as good. I suspect it’s all academic anyway – I fear the budget is not there to record all the pieces he was planning.
