Dongle graveyard

Blast from the past.

Awww … so cute! :crying_cat:

I’ve even seen an “empty” one on sale online … utterly useless of course! The online ad even states specifically that it contains no licenses. Buyers beware!

Mine is still plugged in.
Sometimes an old (old!) project gets petulant in later Cubase versions so older versions are can be useful.

I still have mine plugged in, like Googly_Shakespeare says you never know…especially if you didn’t render out that old instrument or effect that’s no longer included in newer versions

LOL, It looks like the SE one is pretty bent. Been there, done that!

I have one of those, it contains licenses. Why do you say that it’s useless?

Yup. I bent a few in my time. And even unbent a few!

I might have some ancient groove agent stuff lurking on these along with Cubase. Anyone remember Cubase SE pack? It came in a giant cardboard box that looked like a flight case. It had Cubase SE and SE versions of virtual instruments like Groove Agent and The Grand.

Please accept my apologies if this is not the right place to ask. I have been on a long break from music making and didn’t notice the authorization developments. Is my Cubase purchase money down the drain now? The license is in the usb e-licenser. If it gets lost or destroyed, am I locked out?

Your Cubase purchase is still your Cubase Purchase, you do not need a dongle for new products. Most (maybe all) of the old stuff has been ported across too. If you have issues contact support.

Thank you for your reply.

The servers are no longer active to deal with the licence, so I’m going to say: Yes.
I’d be inclined to upgrade while you can (wait for the summer sales). You can still use old versions of Cubase while the dongle works and is plugged in.

Back in the days when you could package 2 or 3 CD Rom discs in a giant box. I think I was using Cubase SX3 or 4 at the time, and bought this to give me another Cubase on a 2nd machine.

I still have 11.0.41 installed, just in case, so… Still works flawlessly : if ain’t broken…
