Dorico 3.5-->5 Upgrade Problems

Really hoping to get some help. I purchased Dorico 3.5 in December 21 as “Dorico Pro 3.5 Crossgrade (Education)” version.*** Today, I purchased Dorico 5. When I enter the Download Access Code in the Steinberg Download Assistant, it asks me to upgrade my license. I say okay, it says “license activation code was recognized correctly,” and displays the activation code from my 3.5 purchase.

After I select continue, however, it says “No License to Upgrade Selectable.” There is a “Soft-eLicenser (SeL)” showing my Dorico Pro 3.5 Education (Grace Period Eligible), but it is crossed out for some reason. It tells me to connect a USB-eLicenser containing an appropriate license.

What do I do? I purchased both 3.5 and the Dorico 5 upgrade to 3.5? Is there some voodoo magic with the DAC, SeL, Steinberg Download Assistant, Steinberg Activation Manager that I’m not doing?

***When I purchased Dorico 3.5, it was indicated at the time that I’d have a free upgrade to 4.0. But for some reason I could never make that work through with the various Steinberg “Assistants” and “Managers.” (To be honest, I just gave up. It really did seem as though it might have been impossible because of some error on Steinberg’s end, and some forum searches seem to indicate that I’m right. It’s really irritating now because I had to spend extra money to upload to Dorico 5, and now that won’t even work.) Please help!

Dorico 5 (and 4) don’t use the eLCC software anymore. It sounds like you’ve gone through the process of migrating your licence to the new Licensing software. So have you downloaded D5? What happens when you launch it?

Welcome to the forum, Brian. It looks like perhaps your Dorico 3.5 license was associated with a Steinberg account with a different email address. Could you drop me a private message with the details of the email address you used for your original purchase?

Thanks, Daniel. I sent you a private message. Let me know if there’s anything else I can do.
