Dorico 4.1.1 release and staff spacing

The release notes say that staff spacing will now be preserved if a page is added. Could someone elaborate on which use-cases this actually applies to? Does it mean only when you insert a blank page, or does it pertain to any scenario (like adding a few bars of music) that causes a new page. Does it preserve spacing if a page is deleted? What about if flows are reordered? etc. etc.

It means when you manually insert pages. This could be to add a title page, or a page of text or dialogue, etc.

It won’t retain staff spacing if you delete pages or reorder your flows. We do plan to do some more work in this area in future, but this was a quick improvement that we were able to get into this release.

Okay. Thanks for the clarification.

Best news ever, thank you

Yes, it’s a lovely surprise to get a really useful new feature in a ‘.point 10’ update.
