Dorico 4 to Dorico 5 upgrade

I hope everyone is having a wonderful time this holiday season, I am excited to upgrade to dorico 5.1 pro and hope to be able to do so later this year!!!

I always had the doubt, if I come from the last version of dorico pro 4, when upgrading I must install all the content? Since I understand that several components are the same, if I install everything I will take twice as much space? Or will the existing components be overwritten?

(Not a definitive answer, but…) They’ve changed the version of Halion, so best to install that. And now included Iconica Sketch and Groove Agent SE so install those.

All else is (I think) the same.

At least in the past, Steinberg has been able to sense when material has been previously loaded and skip over the duplicate parts.

Daniel recommends using “Install All” and that is my common practice as I have never had a problem with it. Some of my sound files have previously been moved to a separate disk via the Library Manager, and the download operation senses that as well.

Yes, I always recommend simply clicking Install All in Steinberg Download Assistant, as that will make sure you have everything you need. Once you have run Dorico and verified that everything is installed correctly (and it will tell you during start-up if it detects any problems with content being missing, so provided you get no such notifications you can be reasonably sure everything is OK), you can then delete the Steinberg folder in your Downloads folder to reclaim the space used by the downloads.

Anything that is the same, like the HSO samples, will either be skipped, or overwritten. However, Dorico 4 and Dorico 5 are separate apps, and both can be on your computer at the same time.

As mentioned, HALion player has been updated to a new version, and that is also separate from the old one.
