Dorico 5.1.60 does not recognise Halion 7 and Groove Agent SE5

Hello, I am getting this notification, and sounds are not loading,

I did re-install both instruments, but the notification persists,

I also tried to see if Dorico would ‘see’ Halion 7 but it doesn’t show at all.

Can you help?

Has this only happened to me? I rolled back for now but this is very bizarre…

You might want to post a diagnostics file so that Ulf can check it out tomorrow… (Help menu >Create diagnostics)

Hey thanks, I am under pressure so I had to revert to a working version. I will have to try again sometime in the future with the update, but I was wondering if anyone else experienced this issue and what the solution might be.

Thanks so much.

@somecomposer , in any case, please do create a diagnostic report from the Help menu and post here. Thanks a lot. And btw to which version did you revert to?

Hey, thanks,

I reverted to 5.1.51

I will do, I have to upgrade again, but I am not keen at the moment as I am hard at work.

Thanks so much.

You don’t need to upgrade, just create the diagnostic right now and send me. Thanks

Ah OK, will do.

Many thanks!

Hi there,

here is the diagnostics folder, many thanks!
Dorico Diagnostics.zip (442.7 KB)

Thanks for the data, and just a quick question. The error message in your screenshot talks about HALion Sonic and GrooveAgent. Then later on you write about HALion 7 not being found. Did you mean really HALion 7 or HALion Sonic 7?
Because in either version a HALion 7 gets found, when only HALion Sonic 7.

Hi there, sorry, I’m new to Dorico and I use Halion very sparingly in general, I didn’t know the difference.

I meant what the error message shows which is Halion Sonic 7.

I went into the settings to see if I could find Halion Sonic 7 but there was nothing there, not even on the drop-down where you are supposed to choose the preferred instrument. The drop-down window was blank.

Thanks so much for looking into it.

Okay, thank you very much for reconfirmation.
That makes all sense now to me.
I think I know what was happening on your computer when you did the update. The vstscanners of Dorico’s audio engine also got updated to a newer version, but somehow on some machines those make trouble and are hanging then on some plug-ins so they get blacklisted then and won’t be seen anymore from Dorico. We need to fix the vstscanner, so it is probably the best for you to stay on the 5.1.51 version of Dorico until we have a fix for it.

Hey,

Thanks for looking into it, for letting me know, and for the advice, appreciated!

This happened to me as well. The only thing that fixed it was rolling back like you did.

Hi @RickNooner , since Somecomposer is on a deadline, I did not dare to ask them to do a test for me again. Maybe you are willing to do so.
I would like you to update again to 5.1.60, then see if HALion Sonic and Groove Agent disappear again, and take a fresh diagnostics report. After sending that diagnostic report, you can downgrade again.
But only do this if you really have time, no obligation.
Thanks

Hi @Ulf. Thanks for responding.

FWIW, I’m on a Mac. I tried reinstalling this morning and still got the error. Dorico would let me continue so I loaded a project and got Reverb errors when I loaded Halion. As I looked deeper, I found that the REVerence reverb impulse files were linked to a nonexistant location that looked to be the installation disk.

lrwxr-xr-x 1 rick staff 114 Oct 13 19:18 /Library/Application Support/Steinberg/Content/VST Sound/FCP_SMT_005_Reverence_ImpulseLibrary_03.vstsound → /Volumes/Dorico/Additional Content/VST Sound/VST Amp Rack Content/FCP_SMT_005_Reverence_ImpulseLibrary_03.vstsound

lrwxr-xr-x 1 rick staff 114 Oct 13 19:18 /Library/Application Support/Steinberg/Content/VST Sound/FCP_SMT_005_Reverence_ImpulseLibrary_04.vstsound → /Volumes/Dorico/Additional Content/VST Sound/VST Bass Amp Content/FCP_SMT_005_Reverence_ImpulseLibrary_04.vstsound
`

I looked on the installation disk image and copied those files to /Library/Application Support/Steinberg/Content/VST Sound replacing the links. Dorico 5.1.60 now starts with no errors.

Hi @RickNooner , good that you could solve your problem yourself. So your problem was slightly different than that of Somecomposer I suppose. Anyway, happy sailing now with Dorico.

Hi! I have this problem too! Halion Sonic 7 and Groove Agent SE 5 has not be found. Is there now any way to fix this? I could try to install an earlier version (5.1.5) but I don’t know where to find the installation file.
I’m new to this topic (Dorico 5) and a lot of other problems appear in parallel :-(. I’m sending the diagnostic file.

Please Help!

Hi @PeterMcArsky ,
first stop Dorico please and in a File Explorer copy and paste into the address bar

 %appdata%

and press the Return/Enter key. From that location navigate further to Steinberg\Dorico 5 AudioEngine_64 and in there delete the subfolder Dorico 5 AudioEngine VST3 Cache.

Then start Dorico again and see if the two are still blocklisted.

Unfortunately it didn’t help :-(. But the previous problem appeared. With “Dorico cannot connect to the audio engine”.
I’m sending a report
