I opened 5.1.60 project and Dorico updated it to 5.1.70. Now whenever I try t save it the program freezes (not responding). Any suggestions? I have several hours into this project and now I cannot move forward.
I’m sorry to hear about this problem. Can you attach the project here? If it’s too large to attach (> 4MB) or you’re worried about posting it publicly, you can send it to me via email at d dot spreadbury at steinberg dot de and I can take a look.
Daniel,
Here is the diagnostic file. I think you are correct about the audio engine issue. I have seen this before on other files.

Hello. I am trying to have Dorico import this mxl file. About half of it comes across but the last have has a lot of missing music. I tried importing it using Finale and it worked just fine. Can you help with this issue?

(Attachment Iditarod HP 2-26-2021.mxl is missing)
Your file is missing, @mccoats. it would be useful if you could make a zip file with this xml and the original finale file and post it. There are also many users that have both software and can give advice for the best workflow.
(I don’t have finale)

There are errors in bars 69 and 127 that even MuseScore complained about. I deleted some material in these bars so that it now opens in Dorico. You will have to replace the missing material.

Thanks Janus. I can easily fill in those two measures that you located were problematic in the MXL. Can I ask how did you locate those two measures in the XML?

I opened the file in MuseScore and it reported the errors. However, it will open the file and mark bad bars (bars where the actual length differs from it ought to be). There’s probably a way to do the correction there, but the MuseScore interface confuses me so much (in contrast to Dorico) that I’ve never worked out how!
Thanks Janus,
I might download Muscore just to use it to debug MXL issues. Thanks for letting me know. Looking at the original score showed some Finale ornaments that are possibly causing the issue. Like the trill ornimant and the glissando ornament. I also notieced on another import that the Finale grace notes do not translate well.
