I’m a fairly recent user of Dorico–moved over from Finale. I have found much to like about Dorico, but I am having trouble with periodic crashes. There doesn’t seem to be any rhyme or reason as to why or when it crashes. I’m often in the middle of notating something when all of a sudden Dorico quits responding. Waiting doesn’t do anything–it just remains unresponsive. The only way I can get it to close is through Task Manager and then I have to wait a little bit before reopening it. If I try to open too soon, I get a message that it can’t access the audio engine and so will need to terminate.
I’m not sure what to do to get it to quit crashing. Help??
The next time this happens, restart Dorico and do Help > Create Diagnostic Report. This will create a zip file on your desktop which you can upload here, and someone from the dev team can take a look.
If the zip file is larger than 4MB, you’ll have to upload it to a file sharing service (Dropbox, Google Drive, etc.) and post a link here.
Hi @robison_p13,
thanks for the data. Contained are two freeze dumps of the audio engine, but both are of size 0, so that means they are of no use for me. Additionally, I see that the Dorico audio engine never gets shut down in an appropriate way, at least that is what I see in the log files.
We need to do some deeper investigations here.
