The Library options doe not appear in the library menu in Dorico 5.5.1 Elements as it appears to in Dorico videos/help etc. Is this option purely reserved for Dorico 5 Pro and not the Elements version. I can seem to find a way to add new libraries in the Elements version. Any help to clear this up would be geatefully received.
Thanks
Geoff
Welcome to the forum @geoffrey_osman !
The Library Manager is only available in Dorico Pro, I’m afraid.
What sort of customization etc are you looking to achieve? It might still be possible without the Library Manager.
Hi @geoffrey_osman,
Sorry if it is not what you meant @geoffrey_osman , but are you referring to Sound Libraries?
You find your installed Playback Templates under menu Play> Playback Template…, or you can add Sound Libraries/VST in Play Mode under VST and MIDI (and edit the assignments and Ex. and Perc. maps there using the Track Inspector, saving then the Endpoint Configurations that you can merge into existing Playback templates):
Some videos are a little older and display a different user interface that Dorico 5. The concepts are the same, but the positioning may be different. Use the Manual as reference to integrate those informations.
Thanks for your reply. Your answer is as I expected unfortunately!
. I use vsl software a lot and am exploring the Synchronized libraries Special Editions 1 and 2 plus. I need to find/create playback templates for these and for the new Synchronized Orchestral Strings, although as this vsl software has just been released there may not be any expression maps etc yet. I like to connect to Vienna Symphonic Ensemble so I can use their MIR reverbs. I’m afraid that at 76 yrs old hobbyist, some of these new technologies are beginning to get past me!!
.
Thanks very much - that’s very helpful.
Geoff
Geoffrey, you definitely sound like a Pro person ![]()

. I’m afraid, although I know quite a bit, I’m way behind in many aspects but thanks for your amusing comment.
