I’m having an issue in my orchestral score where the parts are not assigning to a “first” page template on the first page. This is where I have it set up to show the title, arranger, composer etc.
When I try to select “Insert Page Template Change” in engrave mode on the right side under “Pages”, it duplicates a page with exactly what I want, the part, with the first page assigned to the “first” page template. When I try to delete the duplicated page though, it does not work.
I think this might have something to do with the fact that the notation on the second page is something along the lines of the “real” notation actually connected to the rest of the project, as when I try to play it from the new first page, it starts on the, now, second page which was originally the first. In fact, whenever I select any notes on either page, that note selects on both pages, but it only plays from the original.
From what I understand, Dorico automatically assigns a first page template to any page that satisfies the following conditions, and that there is no way to do it manually:
It is the first page of the layout. This might be an issue as in my Full Score (Transposed) score (which uses a different page template), I have three pages w/o notation, before the first. It might be counting those?
It is the first page of a flow. This score only has one.
There are no manual overrides applied to the page template. This is indicated by a red flag on the mini page on the side in engrave mode, there are none for the parts, but some for the full score.
The notation is linked thought the same frame chain. This seems to be good, but the duplicate notes from earlier seemed to be attributed to this as the new duplicate has the frame chain “MQ” while the original has “MA”.
Page template contains a “first” page template. My “default part” page template has a default, and first page.
I tried applying that with all of the parts selected, and with only one or a few, but doesn’t seem to change anything.
I tried cutting the project down, removing all notation data, most of the measures and most of the instruments, but the file is too big. Is there another way to upload it?
After applying the silence template the project still lies around 12MB with a 4MB limit on the forum. When I try to post a link to the drive or Dropbox, it says that links cannot be included in posts.
Silly question, but did you save the file after applying the Silence playback template?
Links can definitely be included in posts, but maybe there’s a restriction because you’re a new user. How about typing the backtick character (next to the 1 on a US keyboard) then pasting the URL, then another backtick? That should get Discourse to see it just as text instead of a link.
If you change this back to MA (the default Frame Chain) then everything should appear as expected. Make sure to do this for both the left and right-hand pages.
It did not change it to be recognized as text, your probably right, must be a new user thing haha. And it was saved. When it was selected on the full Iconica Sketch, HSO, etc., the saved file came out to around 16MB, while the save file of the silence playback template reduced it to 12MB.
