Dorico 6.0.0 — Audio Export Trouble and Subsequent Crashing

Thought I should report:

I just tried exporting MP3 audio from an 8-measure test project in D6.0.0 and encountered the following:

Mac OS 15.4.1, Apogee Element 46, NotePerformer 4.5.1
Dorico in Print Mode

  • Cutaway score
  • MP3 export took over five minutes (no exaggeration :slightly_smiling_face: )
  • Got blinking wristwatch icon on screen
  • Resulting MP3 file had no audio
  • Subsequently every attempt to launch D6 results in an audio engine initialization error, then the app has to quit.

Here’s a diagnostic report I was (somehow) able to generate:

Dorico Diagnostics.zip (1.0 MB)

Thanks for the data @judddanby .
Contained is also one crash file of the VST Audio Engine, but the crash actually happens in HALion Sonic SE. My question then is, why do you still use HALion Sonic SE which is quite outdated, you better use the new HALion Sonic 7.1.30 which is free to download for existing Dorico customers.

Great, thanks @ulf! TBH, that instance of Sonic SE on my machine is yet another instance of me being lazy and not clearing the weeds out of my garden.

I’ll report back.

FOLLOW-UP: I ran the HALion Sonic SE Uninstaller — worked like a charm. MP3 back to being exported almost before I was done clicking my mouse; everything else is stable. (Now that I’ve cleared off the old app, next I’ll need to learn to pick up my socks, I guess.)
