Dorico 6.2.10 strange staccato playback

I have a problem:

Since the update on 6.2.10 the choir playback only plays staccatissimo eventhough there are long notes notated and no staccato.

It happened first after import of an old chorale. I selected the “use automatic playback" option on import. (When leaving it as it is, I am getting no playback at all.

Since the import didn’t work, I reentered the chorale from scrath in the new version, However, I again get only staccato playback.

Instrument selected is “Sustain ah”

Expression map is “Velocity + Mod Wheel”

All that is the default setting.

Does anybody has an idea, how to fix this.

I never had such a problem on the older versions.

Thank you for your help.

Torsten

Can you upload the document, so we can see what’s going on?

Does this happen in a brand new document, or only in this one document?

It happens on the imported file.

It also happens on the brand new default file.

EG80 OTraurigkeit HändelBrockes 123.dorico (2.0 MB)

The upload is the brand new file.

Now, I made another strange discovery:

When I export the music as mp3, it sounds fine.

When I play it “live” from dorico I only get staccato.

I disconnected my keyboard to prevent any effects from there and started everything new, but to no avail: still only staccato. This is very frustrating.

It plays fine here with Noteperformer. I don’t have any other libraries.

Jesper

When I enter the notes, they sound fine. When I click on the notes after entering, I get the staccato.

So on some occasion (playback) dorico adds a strange staccato.

Does anybody else has the problem?

How do I get rid of this?

Your file plays perfectly normally here (using Dorico factory templates).

As I told: I get a perfect mp3 export.

And: Entering the notes sound good, clicking them gives staccato.

So the problem seems not to be the file, but a somehow corrupted playback. But: How do I fix that. It happend with the update.

You did try to reapply the playback template (auto?) under the play menu, I guess?

Jesper

Yes. And: I recreated everything von scratch with a complete clean new default file. I restarted the system. I disconnected the keyboard… Nothing helped. I am out of ideas…

As there’s nothing in the document that suggests a problem, then it must be an issue with your computer configuration.

If you look at the HALion VST window when playing back, does anything happen there? (Is it still showing “Sustain Ah”?)

You’re sure that you’ve re-applied the playback template?

I’ve loaded your file away from my office (where all the sounds are), but checked out the expression map used. Natural triggers C#0 and staccato triggers C#-1, so this leads to thinking that there could be something that tricks Dorico in playing the keyswitches one octave too low in live conditions and not as export. I have to say this is highly improbable: I’ve never experienced such thing in almost ten years.

Yes, I checked the VST window, it shows “sustain Ah”. And the sound is correct, but it is always cut off immediately.

I selected play/Playback template/ “Auto” and then “apply”. It didn’t change anything.

I take it, nobody else has the problem. This is extremely frustrating, because at the moment, dorico is completely ruined for me. I cannot work this way.

The problem definitely has nothing to do with the file, it is the same with all other older proven files.

It may be a staccato, that is running havoc.

It may also be that dorico cuts of all sounds immediately. The sounds sond all equally cut, regardless of the length, this should be different with a staccato.

How do I get help on this really significant problem? Can I get in touch with someone, who knows how these things work in dorico and how one can reset this?

I really regret this update!!

Is there some way to return to the state before?

Please do Help > Create Diagnostic Report and attach the resulting zip file here. It’s not especially likely that we’ll be able to spot the problem on your system directly from the diagnostics, but it’s not impossible.

Do you have any external MIDI gear connected to your computer? A MIDI keyboard or other device? Can you try disconnecting it, if so? Does it make any difference?

Hello, everyone. I had the same problem that almost resolved when I changed from auto to the full libraries in playback template, BUT I have full bags! Why? Could you please, help?
