Dorico 6 crashes immediately when clicking the Print tab (Mac)

Hi all,

Dorico 6 crashes the instant I click the Print tab — before any dialog, layout preparation, or print options appear. The same happens with Cmd+P.

Details:

  • OS: macOS Tahoe 26.3
  • Dorico version: 6.2.10.6140
  • Mac: Macbook Pro 2021 (M1 Chip)
  • Crash is universal — happens with new, empty projects as well as existing ones
  • Crash is immediate — no “Preparing Layouts” stage, no missing font dialog, nothing
  • Reinstalling Dorico did not fix it (it worked for a couple of days after the reinstall, then returned)
  • Deleting the contents of ~/Library/Application Support/Steinberg/Dorico 6 and relaunching (to force a fresh preferences rebuild) did not fix it

I’ve attached a Diagnostic Report generated immediately after a crash.

Any help appreciated — printing/exporting is completely inaccessible for me at the moment.

Welcome to the forum. There have been a couple of other posts about similar problems, but I’m not sure that anything specific has been discovered.

What printer do you have, and is it on when this happens?

I’ve got the Brother MFC-J5730DW, and no it’s not on. Also, I tried turning off my wifi in case any weirdness was happening with a network or printer issue, but no luck

Any difference if the printer is connected and on?

…and the often neglected “have you rebooted your computer?” Communication with devices can often be resolved when the system is re-initialized.

Unfortunately, there are no crash logs in your diagnostics, Ben. Could you please try updating to Dorico 6.2.20 to see if that makes any difference?
