Dorico 6 Elements freezes on mouse click in score

Whenever I start Dorico 6 Elements and open an existing score or a new one it freezes whenever clicking in the score. Program is not much worth in this way. Please help. On another Windows laptop it works flawlessly.

By the way I have a Midisport uno USB device which worked perfectly and I see the lights come on in Cubase and Dorico and have the 6.2 version installed.

I also see now that my Cubase 15 LE wont start on again midi inputs initialising.

I remember now that everything worked fine VST instruments included but I don’t know if the update threw a spanner in the works or if I did something else stupid.

Greetings

Francis

Hi @flesje53 , welcome to the forum and sorry to hear about your troubles.
Just 2 days ago I had another customer also with a MIDISPORT Uno and the same problem.
In that case a reinstall of the MIDISPORT driver did apparently the trick.
Could you also please try, or even check for an updated driver?

Thanks for your prompt replie. I will do this today and let you know. Have a nice day.

Hi Ulf,

I tried the following:

On my Surface Pro 5 and the Surface Dock 1:

Remove the Midisport UNO and started Dorico afresh: Seems to work and also editing works

In the preferences windows under Play the Midisport however is grayed out!

Reinstalling the newly downloaded driver didn’t solve this issue: still grayed out.

Reattaching the UNO and starting Dorico afresh made it freeze again

With a Midisport Duo 2x2 attached it also freezed.

So I tried on an older Surface Pro 3 with Dorico SE 6. Dorico was fine and attaching the UNO there also was fine (including editing and note input with midikeyboard). Also the midiports showed up in Play and were activated.

Deactivated Elements on the SP5 and upgraded SE on the SP3 (fresh download) to Elements worked without the UNO attached. Then with the UNO and the 2x2 attached it also worked!!

Can there be something amiss with the Surface Pro 5? However it had been working for weeks and I think after upgrading to 6.2 I noticed problems, but I am not quite sure of it. I still have to try to remove all VST plugins and see if it still freezes and one by one reinstalling my plugins.

Greetings and thanks for your help sofar.

Check in the Advanced Options section of the Play page of Preferences whether the WinRT-MIDI option is set: try changing this setting and then restarting Dorico. Does it help?

If not, please do Help > Create Diagnostic Report and attach the resulting zip file here.
