Dorico 6 - ipad use

I have recently acquired an iPad (Air 2024) and upgraded my Dorico Pro to the latest 6 versions. It works perfectly on both the computers I use. I have downloaded Dorico for IPAD from the App Store. It is an entirely new scenario for me. I have a basic version of the software. Sometimes it asks you to subscribe to a monthly plan to access certain features. I am unable to connect the iPad version to my Steinberg profile account.

You can sign in to your Steinberg ID in Dorico for iPad, but this won’t give you access to the premium features of the app. Dorico for iPad is completely independent of your desktop license.

Hi Daniel, thank you for your reply.

I see — there was a misunderstanding on my part. Nonetheless, I believe the iPad version will be very helpful.

Hi Daniel, sorry to bother coming back to my topic… You mean: too unlock complete premium feature I have to pay an extra of 129,99€. Correct?

That’s one option, giving you lifetime access. Or you can pay €5 and get the premium features for a month, or €50 per year. (Not sure of the exact Euro prices.)

But yes: you don’t get anything on the iPad because of your desktop app.

I have

unlocked the complete lifetime package. But I can’t see the engraving mode I could see before (but I did not have access to)

Reboot your iPad.

This might be obvious… the iPad version is different from the desktop in selecting the mode. It’s a pull-down menu instead of the tabs.

I rebooted the IPad more than once.

I reinstalled Dorico.

I am sorry, but It does not work the way I know it should.

This is what I see now.

Before gettin the lifetime package I could see in the menu a tool named ENGRAVING. Now I see Engrave.

Engraving is the tool I want to use.

I want to use the Apple Pen to write music on the IPad.

Is that (screenshot) what you see now? Or what you used to see? What feature are you trying to use? Certain features are not available on iPad – even with the lifetime unlock –which are on the desktop.

I think you might be confusing Dorico with a different app. I have the iPad version without the premium subscription, and what I see is exactly what’s in your screenshot. I don’t believe there is an “Engraving” menu, and I don’t think you can use the Apple Pencil for note input.

Dorico does not take handwritten music and turn it into notation. That said, the Apple Pencil helps in selecting things.
