Dorico 6 not seeing VSL Synchron content

Hi all,
I’m a Win guy, but helped a Mac customer install Dorico 6 yesterday. It all worked fine, except projects created in Dorico 5 latest version do not load correctly in D6.

Ilok cloud is running and when the project is opened in D5 everything is loaded correctly and plays back as expected. However, when the same project is opened in D6, the VSL Synchron content of the project is listed as unavailable (red crosses in the player…) Synchron player is up2date… any ideas?

Where is the Synchron contents installed to? To an external drive?
And creating a new project in D6 with Synchron plays back correctly?
Also please check in the System Settings, that Dorico 6 has full disk access.

Thank you! I will check with the client and report back…

Red crosses in the Synchron player almost always indicate that the iLok dongle for VSL is not plugged in, or if the user is using iLok cloud instead of a USB dongle, the iLok cloud session is down.

It could also mean it can’t find the sample library content installed on the system, but if it was working on the same computer in Dorico 5, I would imagine the content is still installed from before.

This is a long distance undertaking, but as far as I understand Ulf’s third point - “giving Dorico 6 full disc access” solved the problem partly - the sounds were now recognized and loading, but playback was only thru the internal Mac speakers. My client was able to reconfigure the audio settings in D6 and it now works.

This was not iLok related as D5 worked consistently all the time… THANK YOU!

I’ve found not infrequently after a Synchron update, particularly when VE Pro is installed that the samples cannot be found because the iLok somehow seems to lose its sync with VSL. Sometimes it’s been necessary to start VE Pro once even if it’s not being used in that project. I’ve read similar reports on the VSL forum. Obviously not the issue here but possibly worth bearing in mind for future cases.
