Dorico and Yamaha Genos

Got a Genos 1, soon Genos 2. Dorico finds a Digital Workstation (no name), but no sounds. Is there an .ini file I need to install? Is there a problem that I installed the 2.1.7 windows driver from Steinberg and not Yamaha?
What I want, it that Dorico plays back on my Genos 1/2.

Thanks in advance.

Welcome to the forum @Kjolsund .
Could you please be a little more specific with what you want?
Do you want Dorico to stream the MIDI events of the score to your Genos, or do you want Dorico to generate the audio (by means of HALion Sonic or other virtual instruments) and stream that audio data to your Genos? Do you understand the difference between those 2 cases.

Hello Ulf and thank younfornthe welcome and your quick reply.
I would like to make a score in Dorica and get it to play back midi on Genos. Sounds from Genos, and not standard GM sounds.
Should be possible?

Yes, that is possible. May I refer you to our online help of how to add external MIDI devices?

Here for example I added the MIDI output of my UR22C as a new MIDI instrument.

Then you go over to the Track Inspector and choose where the respective track shall play out to.

With this setup the MIDI playback events of Violin 1 will get streamed out to the MIDI output port of my UR22C. In your case you need to choose the MIDI port of your Genos then.

Seems like I got contact with the instrument, but I can’t find out how to choose instrument sound from midi instrument.
What is it, that I do not got right?

Please have a look at this thread.

I think I found the problem. Uninstalled the Yamaha PC driver, and the newest Steinberg driver. Then I downloaded the Yamaha Steinberg driver and installed it. Then I got sound from my keyboard (after routing). But;
How do I tell the keyboard what sound to use? Now my Piano is an guitar, and my obo is a heavy distorsion guitar.
Could you please also tell me how to tell my keyboard what sound to use, or even better: Is it possible to get Dorico to list all of them, and use the sound i prefer?

Would that not be in the keyboard Users Manual?

Once you know that and the keyboard’s protocol for changing sounds, you can create expressions to send the appropriate MIDI control codes to change the soundset–or you can set that up on the keyboard manually.

See, there is no out-of-the-box solution for your Genos available, so you have to set this all up yourself, that means creating a playback template and expression maps. That requires quite a bit of work and dedication.
And also, I can’t guide you through all this step by step. Maybe someone did this already before you and can provide corresponding files, but I doubt it.
I’m sorry.
