I am a music teacher and I just finished my free trial of Dorico Pro. I really like the software and what it has done for me in saving time over what I have previously used.
However, I’m not sure if Elements or Pro is what I really need. (I would appreciate suggestions here, even though it isn’t my main question.)
If I were to buy Dorico Elements for Education ($67) and decide that I really needed Pro, is there an upgrade option? The normal upgrade from Elements to Pro ($480) is more than Pro Education alone ($360), so that avenue doesn’t really make sense in my case.
Hi @pdgehres, and welcome to the Forum and to Dorico!
I don’t know what software you used till now, but if you happen to have a license of Sibelius or Capella and you are eligible, there is a very advantageous discount with the Competitive Crossgrade Education purchase option (without loosing the license for the other software) for Dorico Pro:
If you need to do more elaborate exercises sheets or arrangements for your students for example, I would definetly suggest to go with Dorico Pro, for its much extended functionalities.
Welcome to the forum, Peter. We did for a time have an upgrade path from Dorico Elements edu to Dorico Pro edu, but so few people took advantage of it that we discontinued it.
If your budget can stretch to Dorico Pro, I would definitely recommend it. We don’t often run sales promotions on the educational versions of our products, but there will be an opportunity in the near future to buy either Dorico Elements or Dorico Pro at a discount, so I would advise keeping an eye open as you proceed through your trial. The promotion will be announced here, and also on the Dorico blog, and if you are signed up for marketing emails from us, you should also receive an email from us about it. In Dorico itself, look out for a red badge on the Learn tab in the Hub window: when you see an update there, check the Dorico Blog panel for the latest news from the blog.
