Hi ! Could you share a project where you experience this crash? I have a 2021 iPad pro and don’t remember having such crashes…
I’ve not used iPad for a while as too risky! I’ve already sent various crash data files to Steinberg though. I guess I’ll stick to Mac version and maybe iPad without keyboard attached!
I’m on 5th Generation iPad Pro
I have two IPads and the freezing events appear only on one of them. Both have the same IPadOS and I assume the same amount of RAM. Perhaps I should try to reinstall Dorico and see , if that helps.
Apple makes you work to find the specs on the various ipads. The 1tb and 2tb ipad pro models with an ‘m’ chip has 16gb of ram. If < 1tb and an ‘m’ chip, I believe they are 8gb of ram. If not an ipad pro but a newer ipad, 6gb of ram.
Thanks for that. But still wondering why iPad freezes when using Magic Keyboard and doesn’t freeze when not using it! To repeat…… it freezes when entering things. It doesn’t freeze when playing back cis never tried to. I’m assured RAM is ample.
Have you tried another Bluetooth keyboard to see what happens?
No as I don’t have one. The fact remains that there’s an issue when using apple Magic Keyboard and this needs to be addressed.
I have the same problem with the M2 iPad Pro 2022
Doesn’t matter if I use the pencil or not, if I use the keyboard or not…
Welcome to the forum, @josound. Is there any particular sequence of events that you find is more likely to cause this problem? If so, are you able to describe the steps?
Me too
Dorico 5.1.32.2098 Ipad Pro 5th Gen ios 17.4.1
Random lock ups after only a few notes input.
Sometimes after taking a long time to re-open, Dorico crashes again.
- Bluetooth off (so no Apple Pencil interaction),
- Magic Keyboard disconnected
I sometimes think the ios Files App is unresponsive while Dorico is sulking, is it stuck trying to write to the filesystem?
Welcome to the forum, @Tadders. I’m sorry to hear about this problem. It’s vexing that so far we have been unable to reproduce this problem ourselves, so as yet we don’t know what is causing it or how to fix it. If you have any thoughts about what might bring this condition about, please give us whatever information you can think of that might be relevant.
Thanks for the reply.
What does seemed to have worked (so far) is to back up, erase and restore the entire iPad
I wonder if ios was corrupted? I think in a iPad restore, a new iOS image is installed and then your data is restored.
