i am new to Dorico, so i know a lot of my problems are user error. But now i have one that really confuses me.
I recorded with a midi keyboard a staccato section for the Violoncello. Than i made it staccato with the dot. Now some of the notes are played (what i hear) as staccatos and others as regular notes.
But there is a staccato point on all of them. I tried to erase it and do it again. still no difference. Then i went into play mode, the as staccato played notes had a lower velocity. I adjusted the velocities. No difference. it feels just random.
I also had a similar problem with the snare drum. I can switch between articulations (Normal, Rim Shot, …) and see the note head change, but i would just hear the regular snare sound.
Welcome to the forum and to using Dorico, @Jokerino!
Since articulations are “sticky” during note entry, I’m curious what happens for you if you apply the staccato articulation before entering notes. (You can quickly try it with a run of same note values.)
Welcome to the forum, @Jokerino. Can you attach a minimal project that demonstrates the problem you’re experiencing so we can take a look? It’s always easier to diagnose these kinds of issues when we can see an actual project file. Please allow me to share this sticky thread:
A workaround that worked was to use staccatissimo instead. In the attachted Demo Project I used staccato for the first 4 bars, there is a random change between normal notes an staccatos. The next bars i used staccatissimo and it worked just fine.
I tried your way, it works if i enter the notes with Shift+N + “+” and the Midi-Keyboard. But if I record like this it does not change the notes to staccato. And adding staccato with the “+” shortcut does the same thing, some notes are staccato, others are regular. i can also see this in the midi editor but i can’t change it. It seems to correspond with the recorded velocity, but changing the velocity does not fix it.
