Dorico keyboard shortcuts mania on the Mac!

Coming from Logic Pro x, there’s a way to create or use a keyboard shortcut for almost anything. Dorico is not as flexible, but still quite generous to us that likes to use the keyboard as much as possible.

I wonder if someone knows if the following is possible - only using the keyboard, without using the mouse/trackpad?:

When selecting (with the mouse/trackpad) - or after creating a dynamic - I can navigate (back) to normal note entry/editing by holding shift and pressing left or right arrow, which selects both the dynamic and the following/previous notes/rests. When releasing the shift key, I am then able to navigate “out” of the dynamic entry and back into normal editing with the arrow keys alone.

Is there a way to:

  1. When selecting - or after creating a barline/clef change/time signature, how can I navigate (back) to normal note entry/editing?

  2. Vice-versa: How can I (re-)select a barline/clef change/time signature?

I am able to de-select using shift-arrow, but then nothing is selected anywhere and I still have to use the mouse to continue “normal” editing.

Also, is there a way to open/close the left/right/buttom “properties panels”?

In general, the Tab key will navigate among musical items at the same rhythmic position – so it will get you from a dynamic back to a note, but not from a barline or time sig back to a note. I’m not sure how to manage that.

The left panel is Ctrl/Cmd+7, the bottom is Ctrl/Cmd+8, and the right is … Ctrl/Cmd+9.

Great @asherber, thanks for providing those shortcuts! :folded_hands:

If you create those items with the input caret active (via Shift+M, Shift+C, etc), it will return to normal note input after creating them. If you clicked and created them, then Shift+N will resume note input.

Thanks so much @FredGUnn good thinking on your side, off course that works! :folded_hands:

Except when I also want to exit the caret. But actually, I can finish by entering a note, pressing esc to exit the caret and then just delete that note again which takes me to where I want - navigating between bars using the arrows and playing from where I want.

The only thing left that would be nice is how I would go about achieving the vice-versa.
