Hi, at some point randomly in my project, Dorico turns every instrument I add (even if it’s a duplicate of an existing one) into a drum set. If I go to “Play” and click the “e”, its soundset is drums despite the instrument itself being “trumpet” or something of the nature. Is there any way I can fix this?
Hello Ethan,
welcome to the Dorico forum!
As a first step I would try to create a new player with a trumpet and see, how it turns out.
It could be that - by duplicating existing instruments - you carry something over to the new player/instrument.
Thanks! Just tried creating a new player, and same result unfortunately.
How about reapplying the playback template under the play menu?
Hi!
I think I did this but I’m not sure if I correctly reapplied it. Not too familiar with Dorico’s playback elements (I have Dorico Elements)
Hi Ethen. And welcome to Dorico!
Click the Play menu at the very top, (between the View and Library menus), (not Play Mode). in the Dropdown, click Playback Template. The current template should already be selected. Then click Apply and Close. All your instruments will reload. Does that fix your issue?
Do you by chance have some other midi device connected to your machine or perhaps another application open that is receiving the midi messages? I’ve had something similar happen in the past, but don’t recall the details… but I think it was something along those lines.
This worked! Thanks so much
