So I have begun a project with 10 instruments, one of which is a Snare Drum.
I need one “note” on the snare (just one, unlike the rest) in bar 42, to playback “Sticks” instead of natural snare sound.
NB: the “Sticks” sound I need is G0 note on the current Groove Agent patch.
What I tried:
In “Setup” mode, I pressed the three-dots next to “Snare Drum” → “Edit percussion techniques”. I found that crossed notes were set to Side Stick technique:
In “Write” mode, I then right clicked on the note concerned, to change the Notehead to “Crosses” → “X Notehead”.
I assumed this would set up the Playing Technique of “Side Stick” for the above reason.
But when I expand the bottom panel, and open Key Editor, the note shows as a natural note, unless I manually drag it down to “Side Stick” (see image: I’ve done this already).
From here, I wasn’t sure whether to use the Expression Map or Percussion Map to enact the change of “Side Stick” → “Sticks”.
After couple hours of frustration I set them both up (see images at bottom) simultaneously.
Anyway, the note now shows as G0 when selected in Write Mode. However, it plays back as F#0 instead of G0.

I’d highly appreciate a bit of help on this.
Desired behaviour is: X notehead notes on Snare Drum tells Dorico that I want to play note G0.
Also I’m keen to understand how this all works. I do remember a couple years ago I had a similar issue which I resolved, but I cannot remember the process I used to solve it.
Thank you!
