Dorico Pro 5 v 5.1.81.2225 not closing completely

Hello. For months now, I have had difficulty opening Dorico after I’ve quit the program previously. It doesn’t make a difference if I’ve slept, restarted, or shut down my computer; after I quit Dorico, the next time I want to start it, it won’t start until I open Task Manager (Windows 11) and then, in background processes, choose Dorico and select “end process” from the context menu. Do you have any fixes? I searched the forum briefly but didn’t see an answer. Thanks.

Have you tried posting diagnostic files here, along with a description of what strikes you? I’d bet it’s the best thing to do :person_shrugging:

Hi, I’m not getting an error per se, so no option to make a diagnostic file. Please point me to instructions on how to create that and I’ll post that here. Also, don’t know what you mean by “along with a description of what strikes you”

Hello again. Tried to start from the Windows menu and it worked fine, however, if I start Dorico from the shortcut, I get an error that I didn’t notice before: Dorico cannot connect to the audio engine. The application will now quit.

You do Help>Create Diagnostic Report and upload the zip file that is created on your desktop. You can do this anytime, no need to wait for an error.

If Dorico cannot connect to the audio engine, open Task Manager (shift-ctrl-esc) and kill any instances of both Dorico and VSTAudioEngine. Wait a few seconds and then try a Dorico relaunch.
