Dorico + Stream Deck XL (not latest version)

Is there any way to make a button on the Stream Deck that uses a playing technique?

I’d like a single button that executes "shift-P” then “ah p4” so I can finally get a single button artificial harmonic for my string writing.

I’ve recorded a macro that does this, but it’s not quite “one button”, and I can’t figure how to get it on my Stream Deck.

Any help would be immensely appreciated.

On the Mac with help of Keyboard Maestro you can create a KM Link on the Stream Deck which triggers a KM macro which triggers the Dorico macro.
It sounds like a huge detour but it does work fine.

I suppose there is some similar helper on Windows.

Unfortunately, on Windows 10.

as an aside: when I run my script for creating artificial 4th harmonics, it does not close the playing techniques interface afterward.
Is there a specific command that has to be included in the script for this?

Sure, create a button that is a Multi Action.

Then for the first action you’ll want a Hotkey with Shift+P:

And the next action you’ll want Text.

Enter “ah p4” in the Text box and select Press Enter after message.

You’ve now made an SD button to do this in a single push. Depending on your system and how large your file is, you may need to add a Delay in between the two actions if Dorico can’t process it fast enough.

ahhh, thank-you a million times for the step-by-step.
it’s not exactly obvious (and people complain that Dorico isn’t intuitive! LOL)

I had a bit of trouble because I forgot to assign the Hotkey to shift+p, but when I realized I’d forgotten that step, everything worked perfectly.

Now I just wish I could get a nice matching image for the SD button. I sort of created one but it’s nowhere near as attractive as the default SD buttons, and it doesn’t do the cute animation back and forth between no harmonic, and then a harmonic appearing.
