Dorico - String number over digitation number automatically (guitar)

Hello

How can I make the string indicator numbers appear above the fingering numbers?

I create the string numbers by inserting them from the playing techniques menu and the fingering numbers I create with the text tool (SHIFT + X).

Here’s a screenshot:

Thank you.

Do you have Engrave mode (Dorico Pro version), can you move them in Engrave?

BTW Fingering

Hello, arco. Thank you for your answer.

That’s what I have been doing, but I meant if there exists any authomatic method to achieve it.

Are the Fingerings for Fretted instruments not what you want to use, which is why you are using Text? (I was thinking if you used them, there might not be a problem, but you might have already tried it and prefer manually adding them as text.)

If you use normal fingerings with the Shift+f pop-over, Dorico does a pretty decent job. For strings outside the staff, use the Shift+p for strings (string 1, 2 etc.).

Exactly, that’s the correct method. That’s what I was looking for, thank you all for your answers.

Now I would like to know how can I make the fingering number look bigger without making bigger the notehead when I increase its scale, too.

You can try under Library → Font Styles. There are Fingering entries. There are also Scale-factor settings in Library → Engraving Options → Fingering → Fingerings Inside the Staff.

I’ve never played with either of them though, so good luck.

Good idea, that’s almost how it’s done. I have found one method, it consists of going to:

Library → Music symbols → (Look for the fingering you want to modify, for example: “Fingering 1”) → Scale → (Modify it until it’s done).

Thank you all.
