Dorico v6: Audio Engine issue...Solved!

@Ulf

I’m having a bit of a problem. Dorico 6 not working like it used to a few hours ago. Keeping Shift button pressed no longer helps. I’ve attached the diagnostics file for you to take a look at. Can you help me out? Thanks a bunch!

Everything looks OK in the diagnostics. Are you perhaps trying to run Dorico 5 and Dorico 6 at the same time on your system? If so, don’t do that: quit Dorico 5, wait a few seconds, and then run Dorico 6.

Hi Daniel, thanks a lot for your assistance.

Before installing D6, I removed D5. I then run D6, and it took about 15 to 20 minutes to scan all my plugins. That was a bit annoying waiting to explore the new piece of cake.

Best,
–Nordine.

Guess what? I solved the problem!

I took out the MeldaProduction plugins that were causing the audio scan to freeze every time I launch D6.

Hi, I have this same problem but do not have any Melda plugin installed. I still cannot use my Dorico 6Pro because of this. Help please?

Welcome. If you don’t have the same plug-in that was the cause, then you probably have a different problem!

You’ll need to provide a Diagnostic Report from the Help menu (if Dorico will launch).

Usually, such problems are caused by third-party VST plug-ins, so it might be worth removing some and seeing if that helps.

Thank you Ben.

Unfortunately Dorico will not launch but I have attached the diagnostics.

I am not familiar with this level of computer use and am a little frustrated that I have made no changes apart from automatic Windows updates.

Thank you

Hi @Peter_C , thanks for the data.

Your problem appears to be a different one. Looks to me as if the MediaBay service is not running. Please run the Windows Task Manager and start up Dorico. Then, at the top of the Task Manager is a search field; into there type the word media and have a look at the search results. In the list of background processes, do you see a process called Steinberg MediaBay Server ?

Hi Ulf,

This is what Task Manager shows. Thank you.

Hi Ulf,

I have downloaded and installed Mediabay from the Steinberg Server and Dorico is working. Thank you!
