I purchased Dorico3 a few years back and have been using it. However, I got an email stating that Steinberg is closing their eLicenser software. What happens to my key? I don’t have a dongle; I simply use the hard drive as a key to access the software.
Can someone help me? Do I need to transfer my key to Steinberg Download Assistant?

If you do not have a dongle you are using the Soft eLicenser, which is basically a license stored on your harddisk.
Early 2025 the service to update or move this eLicenser will be shutdown. This means you will be able to use the Software as long as your computer and your disk work, this will not change or stop working.
However, you should get an Update to the current Dorico release, which is using the Steinberg Licensing.

That will not work anymore, with a Soft eLicenser,when the eLicenser Service is shutdown.
If you want to stay with Dorico 3 you could buy a USB dongle and Transfer your existing license to that dongle. That allows you to Change easily between computers by just connecting the USB stick.
However, this will also just Work as long as your Hardware dongle works. If you lose it or it breaks you can’t use the license anymore.
As I said, read the linked document carefully, it explains everything in detail.
I recommend you get the update to Dorico 5 and you will Switch to the new licensing.
Thanks for the reply. I’ll read the document. I have a question,. What if I upgrade after a while? Post-2025… Will I switch to the new licensing or do I have to switch before 2025?
It is not possible to buy an update when the eLicenser service is shutdown. From that point on you need to buy a full new license.
To get the update discount you need to buy it before the shutdown.
I have another question. I want to transfer my Soft eLicense to USB. I have a spare one lying around. What are the steps to do so? Is there a way I can transfer it to the USB?
