When working in Cubase 10.5, double-clicking on a MIDI region would open it in the Lower Zone for editing. In Cubase 11 Pro, this is now opening in a full-screen window. I’ve checked that it’s set to open in the Lower Zone in the preferences (see attached screenshot), but something is over-riding this.
Any ideas, please?

Hi,
Could you try in Cubase Safe Start Mode [Disable preferences], please?
Starting in Safe Mode has it working correctly.
Since then, I’ve tested it with my original preferences with a new project, and that also worked correctly.
I then went to an older project - it also works correctly! So it seems that it’s just ONE project where I have this issue!
Any ideas why the issues would only occur in a single project, please?
OK - cue name calling and dumb feelings…
I just noticed I was double clicking on the group track!!!

Thanks anyway - I’m not normally this dumb!
Hi,
This is a known issue. Of course, it doesn’t make sense, you would expect to open the Key Editor in the Lower Zone in this scenario too. So it is a bug (in Cubase since introduce this feature). Already reported to Steinberg some years ago.
