Hi Team, I have set up the triplets in the hi hat with foot and am going to be changing some of them to bass drum notes. Thing is, when I change it to a bass drum note it adds a new triplet bracket and rests. I’ve checked in the percussion kit and both the hi hat with foot and bass drum are both voice 2 with stems down.
I’m sure there’s a setting somewhere but I just can’t find it!
Change your Percussion Kit Presentation Type to Single-line (like my screenshot) by going to Layout Options > Players > Percussion > select Single-line Instruments.
Delete the tuplet in Kick Drum 2, change back to the 5-line Staff and you will get:
To enter the notes, I first enter the hi hat as triplets and then highlight the note I want to change and use opt+arrow to move the note up to the bass drum. I just did a test and as soon as I move the hi hat foot note it immediately adds the extra triplet layer.
It would be wonderful if you knew of a way to avoid this in the future as I’m going to have to change over 100 of the hi hat notes over the course of these worksheets.
In your Percussion Kit, the Kick Drum 2 (Very Low) is set to be down-stem but it is listed as Voice 1, where as Kick Drum 1 and the HH Pedal are Voice 2.
If you make them all Voice 2, the extra tuplet will disappear immediately, plus it won’t happen in the future.
Thanks for pointing that out. I’ll change it so I don’t run into that again. No reason it’s set up like that other than that’s how it was when I started the new score. Long time Sibelius user coming over to Dorico and still learning the ropes. I do find the drumset system a bit of a headache at times, but with great help like yours, I’m getting better at it thanks for the help!
If you want to be using the same drum kit each project, I would set aside some time to organise one exactly how you like. You can then save it as a Default instrument and it will be available in all future projects.
