I have a 2015 MacBook Pro running Monterey latest with 2.8 i7 and 16gigs of ram. Is it possible to run legacy versions of Cubase off a modern license? 12-14 run perfectly even though my OS isn’t officially supported, but my fans are working overtime because even though the cpu is marking low it’s still hot… but I get why.. before buying a newer computer, I wanted to know if this was possible. Thanks
No. Pre 12 versions need the usb elicenser.
Running older versions isn’t likely to make it run any cooler anyhow.
Thanks for the reply.. I do have a dongle.. but was hoping I could just enter the 14 pro code into it, and that would be good enough, but probably not.
Really? Something had to run smoothly on that computer back then..
Well if you have the dongle and you upgraded from elicenser to the new licensing you can run whatever version you like by plugging in the dongle….ime there has been little change in performance over the years. If you’re overheating when cpu shows low load, I guess the problem is the hardware, not the software
