Download assistant will still not work…followed all instructions and downloaded everything it asks - I can not use it…
I’m dealing with the same issue. You can fix this part by manually installing the ASIO driver… I think for some people it then works… but for others such as myself the actual downloading and installing bit still fails after getting past this ASIO problem.
Same problem. The tool won’t download ANYTHING. I’ve uninstalled and re-installed all of the suggested parts and it still returns this error.
It’s never worked properly for me. On 2 machines (this one and my previous one).
Can’t believe it has a team of 10 working on it. Maybe that’s the problem?

This is not a solution, but an explanation of how I got it fixed here at my place.
I had the same problem for about a week. I solved it today.
But it was more luck than knowledge that got me there. I havce been messing around in firewalls, downloaded and updated as Steinbergs helpsite told me, and a lot of other things, but to no luck.
Suddeenly I thought that it could be related to my home net installation. I have an “Amplifi HD mesh WiFi system” connected to my internet to strengthen the signal around in my home (Internet provider in living room, and wifi to my bedroom, kitchen and 2 offices (hobby rooms)).
So,
my computers was connected to the net via wifi from the “Amplifi HD”. I clicked the wifi-connected on my comp and changed the wifi connection directly to the internet providers baserouter on the 5GHz line…
And Voila! Steinbergs Download assistent was working!
Why??

I use Ethernet, a cable plugged straight into the router sitting on my desk. SDA has never worked as it should - connection problems, always more than 2 attempts to download.
Is there another thread about this issue?
I’m also experiencing this, even though it used to work fine up until recent months.
…yes, there are a lot of threads. You can use the search function and filter by date (advanced options) to check for the latest updates.
And in addition to @Reco29 answer, each of us should also be aware of this :
Absolutely. However, the issues remain the same most of the time, even if you updated to the latest version. Unfortunately 
I wasn’t aware of that. I made the SDA update few days ago and until now, no more connecting issues. And I got some, not so long ago, with the previous version, as many of us.
