Download Assistant freezes when trying to install Halion Sonic and GA Content

Hi All,

I just upgraded from Cubase 13 Pro to 14 Pro on a Win 10 PC. Everything got downloaded and installed fine from the Download Assistant expect the Halion Sonic Selection and Groove Agent content.

Every time I try to download it, the download for Halion freezes after downloading around 1.75gb. GA content dl freezes at around 1.5 GB. I am unable to pause or cancel the download, nor am I able to close download assistant. Eventually I have to force quit the Download Assistant from Task Manager, upon which the Assistant finally closes after presenting me with some long java error text.

I have installed everything manually by clicking install next to each product/library since ‘Install All’ always freezes the Download Assistant here and I end up with that same java error mentioned above.

Has anyone else experienced this? Would love to hear any workaround as to how can I resolve this.

edit - GA Content finally got installed even though the download was extremely slow (around 300kb/s) and intermittent. Halion Sonic content dl is now stuck at 480 mb forever.

Every one has. There’s a whole bunch of topics with the same complaint.

Cool. Will file a lawsuit for non-delivery of goods if they don’t burn the midnight oil for this.

Because I have tried all the solutions here. And I had faced the same problem with Cubase 13 Pro

Something in Cubase not working fine - understandable. A stupid downloader stalling the delivery of a $1000 product for over 2 months - I dont think so. Don’t really care about their legacy in the audio industry. Big woop. Seen enough. For god’s sakes 20 something kids program better download clients. Someone’s being utterly useless at Steinberg.

Anyways will wait for a month from now.

Great to hear that Download Assistant works fine in atleast half of the systems they claim it works in. From that we know they are atleast half-assing it there in Germany. Feel blessed.

This is now the 5th working day since I put a ticket in to support. I was hoping that Steinberg could at least admit that there is a problem and confirm they are working on it.

This silence makes me feel like they either don’t care, or don’t know what to do?
