Download Assistant - how to change the install location?
I am not talknig here about the download location, but the installation directory of files. For me, they are all going to the wrong place.
Also I have a of SMT files - example SMT_44_Analogue Wonder, which I don’t know how to move. The Library app does not mention them. They are VST sound archives. I have about 40 of them not sure how to move them and get the relevent VST to recognise them.
I presume you are looking in the WIN64 folder, which contains the files when they are downloaded. You can delete those files if you want to save space.
Thank you for your troubles in replying. I am tidying up a Computer. It has 8tb over 8-10 Hardrives. Cubase was a mess.
These files are in two wrong locations. They are not mentioned in the Library Manager so cannot be moved by it.
If i move them without telling Cubase then it is going to lead to issues. Various VST might not know they are even missing.
There is no point in the user moving any SMT files. The system doesn’t operate in that old school sense. The files are managed entirely automatically, and this works very well.
Hm… Are you saying Cubase does see them currently?
Please. show screenshots of what you are see in the Mediabay, or Library Manager, and not Windows Explorer.
I never install from the download assistant just download.
Once downloaded I then install from the download files (which I delete once installed)
If you double click on the downloaded installers the library manger will open as well as a location box.
One option in the box ..install in the default location. You also have the option of setting this default location (you only need to do this once)
I have a folder I’ve named “Cubase content” on my large D drive. Every downloaded instrument, grove agent or Halion library is in this folder.. I’ve never had a problem and everything is nice and tidy.
Anything that goes wrong can be moved using the library manger.
Steve I’m not saying right way wrong way.
I’m trying to help by telling him how I do it (clear instructions) and by doing it this way for me I’ve never had a problem, It’s very easy and I know exactly where all my Cubase content is.
If people want to go a different way no problem.
I didn’t mean to come off as critical of your post. I actually meant that downloading from the web is exactly equal to using the the SDA, of for that matter any other way to get the files onto the machine
