Drag and copy with selection tool

  1. When I drag and copy something with the selection tool, I’m unable to extend or shorten MIDI or audio events immediately afterward. I have to switch to another tool and then back to the selection tool for it to work again.
  2. The stock EQ is extremely heavy, and I can’t adjust the curve smoothly at all.
  • My setup: MacBook Pro M4 Max, Apollo x6, newest macOS.

It only gets slow when I have the MIDI or audio editor open.

Hi,

You cannot resize the MIDI Part/Audio Event with the Range Tool. You need the Object Selection Tool. Or am I missing something? Or do you mean the Combine Selection Tool?

  • After copying an object with ⌘+C while using the selection tool, the cursor changes to a pen and I can’t resize the object anymore. I have to switch tools and then return to the selection tool to make it work again.

Hi,

This is the Object Selection Tool, not the Range Tool.

Is this an Audio Part? It works on my side.

also MIDI too… smh

Hi,

Do you still hold down the Opt/Alt modifier by any chance when you try to resize the Audio/MIDI Part? You have to release the modifier.

Happens for me too. I just press the Option key to get it back the resize arrow icon. It has been like this for years.

Wow, it’s not fully resolved, but at least it’s partially fixed! lol
Thanks. Let’s hope they release a bug fix soon.

It’s no bug. It’s as intended.
Your video is an audio event, and you are holding your alt-button while pointing at the drag square; the pensil tool tells us that.
An audio event can’t be streched beyond the content.
It works ok here:
Audio:
Selection tool + Alt → copy event.
selection tool + drag left → minimize the event
selection too + drag right → does nothing (if it’s refering to a longer file tho, it can be expanded)
Midi:
Is a different story, but you have to let go the alt-button.

I can confirm he’s not holding the alt/option button. It seems to stick after duplicating an event. You then either need to press the alt/option button again or move the mouse pointer to the menu bar and it will then work as expected.

It might be related to certain hardware only. I have only used Apple Magic Keyboard and Magic Mouse and it has happened for as long as I can remember.

I’ve been using Cubase on Windows for nearly twenty years, so I’m completely used to this behavior, lol.
I recently switched to a MacBook and this issue started happening. When you hold down Alt, the pointer is supposed to turn into the scissors tool when hovering over an audio event. And of course, I am releasing the Alt key. This is a bug
