Dragging Steinberg Library Samples into VST's (Cubase & Nuendo)

Hi there,

It has always bugged me why I can’t drag any samples I installed via the Steinberg Download Manager into any of my drum or sample VST’s, for example , if you go into your sidebar:

And choose any of these samples under “Loops & Samples”

And drag them into a plugin like:

  • NI Battery
  • TAL Drum & TAL Sampler
  • KONTAKT
  • Phaseplant
  • Pigments
  • Serum
  • Rapid
  • Arturia CMI
  • UVI Falcon

The sample is not recognized and the import does not happen.

It does however work with Steinberg’s own plugins, like Halion and Padshop, naturally.

I do not understand this kind of “lock down” on content. We should be able to use it freely. Also, this makes most of this material basically useless to me, since I don’t use Halion all that much - at least not for creating sampled instruments. Rarely has padshop any interesting features to me, since Pigments and Phaseplant are currently the big players with the best performance and features.

It also poses a significant hurdle for me in terms of workflow. Sometimes I need to create a drum set from scratch quickly and then I have to search, e.g. “clap” - these Steinberg-branded sound files then show up in the search and there is no way for me to filter them out, nor can I discern optically that they are of no interest, making the picking of my samples difficult.

Please consider this a feature request for both Nuendo and Cubase.

Thanks!
