Some kind of tap tempo feature is on our roadmap for future versions, but I canā€™t say for sure when we will be able to implement it.

Hello, if we canā€™t conduct the score like an orchestra conductor to create a tempo map, couldnā€™t we play a musical line at a free tempo and then define the bar linesā€™ placement?

You can play in a line of music; then use Insert mode to specify the intended duration of each note; and then apply a time signature.

Does this mean:

  • Someone can record three long notes and three short notes
  • In insert mode, change the durations to three quavers and three crotchets

and the sounding length of the notes wonā€™t change?

No: the lengths would be changed.

Perhaps Iā€™m misunderstanding what is being asked. I presumed that ā€œfree tempoā€ means you play at any old speed, and then define what the notes are later?
