Driver Issue with RME and Cubase 13

I think that you’re onto something, with that one : using the Windows Device manager, I had this, well hidden behind the W10 like sh**** System options :

So, I just unchecked it. I’ll report back if there is any improvement. Thanks for the hint… :slightly_smiling_face:

I didnt buy Cubase yet, i am using its test version

Hi Maximilian,
On my main system I have Cubase 12.0.70 pro
Running Amd 5900x / X570s msi unify
32 gb ram with a Babyface pro fs
The system runs flawlessly.
I’m currently on a project and have reached 121 Channel tracks. I always keep the buffer size on 128 and Asio guard on Low regardless of how big or small is the project.

I have a second system that I mostly do Video and its a 7900x with a B650E Tachi lite 32gb ram.
On that system I don’t really do audio but I have installed Cubase 13 Element with a UR22C to get a feel of C13 before switching

I am forwading you the parameters I have disabled in the Bios.
*C-state Control : Disabled
USB XHCI Hand-off : Disabled
Legacy USB Support: Disabled
AMD fTPM Support: Disabled
Power Supply Idle: “Control typical current”
Spread Spectrum: Disabled

XHCI and Legacy support might solve the issue.
C- state and fTPM I disable them to prevent any lag for realtime.

OK. So, if it’s Cubase that is involved, the trial version is exactly the same as the paid one : it is just limited in its usable time. So, the RME answer isn’t valid either…

i have full version, have issues with switching buffer size, sometimes no sound after switching from 512 to 128 or 96, issues with input channels, from time to time no sound on inputs in cubase, in today session there was no change in input latency after switching on 96 from 512, only restart of cubase and card helped, very random

i use rme babyface pro fs

O God,
I already have had RME Fireface UFX III in cart in thomann,
then I typed in google phrase:
“RME Fireface UFX III Cubase 13 issue”
you know, just for fun…
And found this thread… So I did not purchased this interface.
As I know my luck, this issue will also occur to me…

I already have Mytek 8x192 Firewire DIO Card with random issues…
I wanted to swith to interface with no problems. Not yet.

hi,
I’ve been using rme interfaces for years, currently a digiface usb, win 11 and Cubase 13 pro, runs rock solid!
As before under win 10, win 7 and win xp cubase 12, 11, 8.5, rme was always top…
it’s my opinion, I don’t have any shares in rme:joy::raising_hand_man:

I would not be surprised if you were able to find similar statements concerning any audio interface on the market.
I have been using RME interfaces for the past 15 years, running them both on Macs and Windows machines. I would never buy another brand, that’s how much I like them.

I work every day, all day long, with Cubase 13 without issues. Win 11 and RME Fireface 802. I know, this won’t help at all.

i think there wont be any fix for people who have this issue since it is so random… some people dont have issues at all, i only have issues with cubase 13, so no one will rly look into this.

steinberg support until this day has not replied btw…

had the exact same issue with babyface usb on win11, AMD board/cpu. i figured out it, was a problem with the usb port. i turned off legacy usb support in bios and connected the device to a different usb port. since then, no issues.

Thanks for this thread, people. USB UFX here and I have the same problem, on and off. Resetting audio seems to restore operation but I’ll try some of the fixes listed here.
7950x with ASROCK x670 Lightening mobo here by the way. I am using one of the suggested USB ports on the back of mobo.

Hello, I have the same problem with BABY face pro and from one day to the next Cubase stopped playing, only the ASIO built-in drivers from Steinberg work and the RME ones don’t give any signal, the strange thing is that for a long time I hadn’t had any problems. im rog strix b-550-f (wifi) user and cubase 13 and you can blame AMD or RME for or even Microsoft, but one thing is clear to me Bitwig continued to work without problems, so, for me I clearly see only one culprit in this equation, solves this by changing to a USB slower port.

I should have updated here. I ended up buying a PCIe usb expander card and I haven’t had an issue since.

What generation of ,USB 3.0?

Note the RME interface itself is USB 2.0, so there is no performance gain when plugged into a USB 3.x or USB 4 port, it will run anyway at USB 2 speed (which is plenty in this application).
So trying different USB ports on your computer might solve such issues, and won’t bring any performance reduction.

Just ran into this same issue this morning with Cubase 13 on Windows 11 AMD system with an RME Fireface UFX III. I could hear audio fine in Pro Tools and with anything using system sounds with the OS (like Windows Media Player or on a browser).
I double-checked all my system settings in Windows and Cubase and everything looked fine.
After trying a bunch of hacks, my solution was found in the Cubase Studio>Audio Connections window.
I’ve been using Control Room for my routing, where my outputs are set to Not Connected, and the CR Outputs set to my RME speaker and headphone outputs.
When I changed my headphones output in the CR from RME Analog 9-10 to Not Connected, then set the Stereo Out in the Outputs tab to RME Analog 9-10, my sound came back.
I then went back to my defaults which is to set the Output Stereo Out to Not Connected and the CR headphones to RME Analog 9-10 and everything was back to normal.
