As announced on Oct 9, 2025, Steinberg will focus solely on software development.
Our Steinberg-branded audio interfaces (IXO12, IXO22, UR22C, UR44C) will be rebranded under Yamaha as UR12MK3, UR22MK3, URX22C, and URX44C. Other models will be phased out gradually.
Regarding mobile apps:
dspMixFx UR-C for iPhone/iPad will move to the Yamaha App Store
The older dspMixFx app will remain on the Steinberg App Store
To ensure a smooth transition and avoid inconvenience, Yamaha and Steinberg will continue to provide product support and drivers for the foreseeable future.
I can buy a brand new Steinberg UR44C at a much better price compared to a Yamaha URX44C. Will I have any problems related to software (dspmixfx etc) or firmware updates? Or, are all software agnostic to the URC->URXC transition?
Choosing the previous device should be fine, as we expect Yamaha to maintain both devices in a similar manner.
For more detailed information, we recommend getting in touch directly with Yamaha, who are now responsible for the hardware products, as mentioned above.
It is available via the Download pages, but they are offline at the moment. Steinberg is obivously securing the site against the Php2Shell vulnerability, that came up this week.
