When I select a partial MIDI part range with the range selection tool, and then drag while holding option (Mac)/ctrl (Windows) to duplicate, the notes and CC data do not get split.
Since now with Cubase 14 automatically splitting events and parts when making edits with the range selection tool, I think it should also split the data inside, assuming of course you have the “Split MIDI Events” and “Split MIDI Controllers” enabled in the preferences.
For so long I have ignored using the range selection tool for this reason, but I feel if the above was implemented, then it will become so much more usable.
Thoughts?

Hi,
Do you mean in the Key Editor? This is by design. You can choose, if you want to select just the Notes or all.
I’m talking about in the main project window. When using the range selection tool to duplicate MIDI parts, the notes inside do not get split and you’re left with a mess of notes in the duplicated part.
I have uploaded a video as a really basic example:
I can confirm that “Split MIDI Events” does not work when duplicating the selection.
This is another coding oversight, because duplicating only seems to resize the MIDI Part (as when using the Select Tool), while just moving it properly splits the Part on both ends (as when using the Split Tool), and in this case it will properly follow the preferences.
So to answer your concerns, this feature doesn’t fully work and requires a fix.
Yes, let’s hope for a fix. Would be nice to use the range selection tool rather than having to split the MIDI parts manually, and then re-glue them back together.
