Hello everyone! So, I have created a manual cutaway at the start of a system, to hide a redundant bar due to the divisi that starts one bar later (Vlns I & II).
This leads to the dynamic marking attached to the first note of the system to remain visible in the cutaway part, instead of hiding away with the rest of the music. See the fff sub. in the Vln II part in the picture below.
As you can see, this is not the case for Vln I because of a workaround. Specifically, I have added a divisi (see Signpost in Vln I, bar 40) and deleted the music from the bottom staff. For clarification here is the Galley View of the same section where you can see the empty bar in Vln I, bot. staff.
Finally, here’s a video showing:
-
selection of the dynamic - as you can see this is treated like one object by Dorico (because it is one object after all) so I can’t delete, hide or move it independently.
-
moving it away from the start of the system - which fixes the issue
-
removing the divisi in Vln I - which causes the same issue there as well.
If you can’t see the video here’s an unlisted YouTube upload: https://youtu.be/DrUhT0-qluI
The “divisi + delete” workaround is ok for the Full Score layout but it causes major pain in the parts so it’s not optimal. Another workaround is to move the dynamic to the next note and place it properly in Engrave mode (optionally add a hidden one at the original note for proper playback).
Still I thought it’s worth reporting here, mostly as a possible bug but also in case there is a proper solution / setting I’m missing. Thank you!
