Easy adding Groove Agent Patterns

Is there any simple way to drag and drop Groove Agent patterns (notes) to a MIDI event?

I’m not so good in hitting the right note in the key editor… Would simply like to drag the desired pattern/note to Cubase which hopefully can insert the correct note with one drag or mayby click. Can anyone help me to do this easily so that all I have to do is selecting the right pattern/note in the Groove Agent and Cubase inserts me the correct note and I only have to lengthen or shorten it in the Key Editor?

Thanks for your help!

It should work via drag’n’drop. Drag the pad onto the track in the project. I don’t think it works in the key editor.
What happens if you drag’n’drop a pattern onto the track?

There’s also a little DIN MIDI icon with an arrow right there that drops it on the track for you..

The problem is, that it drags the whole pattern inside, what I don’t want:

I just wanna have the note triggering the pad…

If all you want is one note why don’t you just enter the one note in the editor?

Have a look at the pad in Groove Agent which contains the pattern. You’ll see a note value on that pad that corresponds to the key you have to press on your keyboard to trigger that pattern. Draw this exact note into your key editor of the instrument track and it will play the pattern.

If you want to dive deeper into that subject: “One Man and His Songs Groove Agent” YouTube tutorials - the first one (of 24 in that series) explains how it works.
Groove Agent is extremly powerful and at the same time full of hidden menus.

That’s exactly my problem. I so often don’t find the corresponding note in the Key Editor. Therefore I would like to “drag” the note from Groove Agent to Cubase. That’s not possible, do I see that right?

Yes, you are right. To the best of my knowledge you can only drag the pattern (including all sorts of modifications) onto a track. If you want to trigger it with a single note you have to draw the note.

If you don’t find the note - it’s written on the pad. That’s the easiest way to find out. You could also reassign it but I would strongly recommend to go through some tutorials first. Be prepared to have enough time on your hands…
You can also trigger pads simultaneously if they are not in exclusive mode…

My problem is to find the right note on the Key Editor :see_no_evil_monkey: I am a keyboard player, but for some reason, seeing the keyboard vertically I do not find the right note most of the time… Just thought whether I try playing them on the keyboard instead, whether this would help me figuring it out… Still would like being able to just to “drag” the note in, without the need to care about it’s height… seems like I need to stick with this, if Steinberg cannot improve it

The C octaves are written right on the keys in the key editor, and the assigned keys for every pattern are printed right on the pad itself.

If the pattern you want to play is on C1, go to C1 and draw the note. As a “keyboard player” you should then know that the very next note is C#1, D1, D#1, etc.

Yeah, I know all of that. Still it is kind of hard to me to “hit” the right note in the Editor. Maybe it would be easier if the Key Editor would show me the note that I will enter, kind of as a mouseover or hover when I go with my mouse over the editor. I’ve tried it out with playing the notes on the keyboard (fortunately it shows on the virtual keyboard on the left side which note I play and I can see the same time in Groove Agent which pattern will be played when I hit a note). Still I’m not happy with how I need to click on the right note in the Key Editor for finally inserting the note in the event…
