A somewhat introspective, reflective song… yeah, I’m getting old! You can clearly hear it in my failing vocal chords! Just trying to get out some new tunes before I eventually die of some horrible disease
Nice. If you feel your voice thining out, maybe you could double all your vocals?
Nice composition and performance. I liked it. Everything sounded good and worked nicely in the sound field and in conjunction with the video.
I’m with you on the “sands of time” running out on vocal end of things. A few years ago I thought of revisiting some old vocal tunes I’d written to re-do them with my current recording knowledge- fully aware that it was a carpe diem necessity while I still had a voice to even consider that!
What you did here was entirely admirable and worthwhile, so if it’s legacy you’re after, it’s looking good through this.
All the best with your music.
John
Thanks for the view/listen. I’m not so much concerned about vocal “thinning” it’s maybe even better now in that regard than it once was, it’s more that it’s sounding older and has a tendency to break up. I guess you could call that “character” !
Thanks for the listen and your thoughts, John. Much appreciated.
I too revisited old tunes, many in fact, but just mostly remixed using the original vocal. I haven’t done much singing since well before covid was a thing (maybe sometime in 2018?), where band rehearsals and small gigs were routine. It’s only very recently that I have got back in front of a mic again.
Very nice, the whole song reminds me of Eric Claptons “Let It Grow”, the mix sounds professional, and so do your vocals, the video was nice to watch whilst listening to Ebb & Flow, I enjoyed all of it👌
Mike.
Thanks for the listen and comments Mike. It’s not often I hear positive things said about my singing! My wife actively discourages it in fact!
Speaking of “Let it Grow” - I’ve just finished mixing a new one about the joy of gardening of all things.
In my case it’s joy of clearing everybody else’s leaves off my lawn
Upload it and I will listen to it
It was actually inspired by our efforts over the last few years to grow our own veges:
Labour Of Love
Thank you Ian for letting me listen to Labour Of Love, I can’t see why your wife tries to discourage you from singing, I think you have a good voice.
I enjoyed the whole song right down to the flies at the end lol
I will be back to listen to your other songs
Mike
Thanks Mike.
I’ve been listening to some of your other music, I am very impressed with all your backing arrangements, nice and full in places and also nice and delicate in others. Enjoying the listen (haven’t got through them all yet)
Thanks again Mike, I certainly appreciate the listens and feedback…
I, like I guess many others often feel like we’re in a bit of a vacuum when it comes to getting our works heard, so very glad to know . I don’t want to overwhelm you, but if you are interested, and have time… and no pressure of course, but the vast majority of my back catalog is actually here - around 16 albums worth of content (quite aside from the vast body of work I’ve done for others over the years).
Nice sentimental tune. I think these vocals perfectly suit the nature of this song, ain’t nothing broke here at all
Thanks, kind of you to say so!
Hi Sherz, was great to listen to this one. Well done, and your voice sounds the same to me as it has for quite a while here. Thanks for keeping us up on your output. You have only gotten better and better!
Thanks mate. Appreciate that.
As it happens… just today I released the new album “Sixty-Five Summers” which features this song.
Ian, I think you forgot to put a link to your new release, or at least I didn’t see it. Best wishes for the new album!
forget that, just saw the link! Congratulations!
I guess I should have mentioned it was a separate post!
